Roberto Lugo draws from his lived experience and deep knowledge of ceramic history to create works that elevate the stories of those historically absent from pottery. Lugo’s multicultural mashups often combine classic forms and patterns with elements of hip-hop. With this as inspiration, we wanted to emulate his maximalist design style. The exhibition design was already pulling in classical forms from Rookwood Studios, which gave a great canvas to showcase, custom wallpaper designed by Lugo.

An additional feature, an informational panel was reinterpreted as a multi-door interactive, engaging visitors to experience each step of Lugo making a mug.
